MCA #0, Late, Late Thursday Night

After the weekend they had, Danny's insomnia was back in force. Which meant that, after some staring at the ceiling and tossing and turning, he was stumbling out of bed to give into the urge to go check on Steve.

Look, the guy got kidnapped. He was allowed to be a little bit anxious about the whole thing. He didn't want to wake the guy if he was sleeping, but it would be good to make sure he was... just to make sure of things, okay?

[for the partner!]

Steve let out another one of his tiny little gasps and moved his hand to try to help Danny along.

Did this have to be a race? No. Was Steve weirdly competitive at all times? Yes.

Or feel weirdly guilty about it when he looked at it later!

"C'mon," Steve murmured right in Danny's ear. "Let go for me."

And now that Steve wasn't the first one going (control issues, he had them), he could relax enough to let go himself, absolutely ruining both of their shorts.

Might as well get the awkwardness started early.

Steve wasn't going to be the first one to talk--possibly ever again, if it stopped things from getting weird--but he did wrap both arms around Danny and hold on tight, closing his eyes.

Maybe if he pretended to be a guy who fell asleep right after it would be okay?

Steve was actually getting drowsy now that the initial endorphin high-slash-mini-panic-attack has worn off, and someone warm in bed who was breathing steadily was enough to knock him out.

In his defense, it had been a very long week.
