MCA #0, Sunday Afternoon

Well, yesterday was a thing. A whole entire thing. And Danny was not happy about any of it.

So, after doing the thing he'd done for weeks when he first arrived, he spent his morning trying the causeway to follow after Steve again to no avail. Hence being back at the apartment to stress bake.

It was this or have an anxiety attack over the level of unknowns and he thought his shrink would prefer this, honestly.

She couldn't hear him either, if that helped!

Which it didn't.

"Danny, are you there?"

"They've got him," came the staticky, unhelpful reply as Catherine hid behind a tree.

"The Taliban," Catherine said because she wasn't entirely sure how much Steve had shared with Danny. She guessed the answer was always "more than she'd prefer", but she wasn't sure, and now wasn't the time to be coy. "I need you to get in touch with Joe White. Tell him Omar Hassan is alive and that there's a Taliban compound in the Panjshir Valley. I'm pretty sure that's where they're taking Steve." She took a break to catch her breath as Amir's village came into view. Twelve klicks was a long way to run. "Do you have a pen?"

"All right," Catherine said. "The coordinates of the compound are three-four, two-eight, niner North, seven-zero, two-two, three-one East. Repeat it back to me."

"Yeah, yeah I'm all right," she said, sounding distracted as she caught sight of pickup trucks racing into the village and angry Pashto being shouted. "I gotta go, Danny. Get a hold of Joe, okay?"

Because a Navy SEAL in the hands of the Taliban was bad.

"Gotta go," Catherine said, voice a staticky whisper, and then the phone disconnected.

Enjoy your weekend, Danny!
