MCA #0, Sunday Afternoon

Well, yesterday was a thing. A whole entire thing. And Danny was not happy about any of it.

So, after doing the thing he'd done for weeks when he first arrived, he spent his morning trying the causeway to follow after Steve again to no avail. Hence being back at the apartment to stress bake.

It was this or have an anxiety attack over the level of unknowns and he thought his shrink would prefer this, honestly.

"It's very admirable," Annie agreed. "But I think I've given my mom literally all her gray hairs doing exactly that, myself. It's not easy not knowing what's happening."

"It also doesn't matter if he's done worse - it doesn't change that this is still dangerous," Annie pointed out with a firm little shake of her head. "Though the lack of back-up is...especially not great."

"Can I help?" Annie was not usually great in a kitchen, but it seemed like the hard part was done. And plus it seemed like the more distractions, the better.

They did sound fancy, but part of that was also that Annie's cookie education was pretty sorely lacking. Blame her mother and her fear of all things sugar and butter.

"You make all these different types of cookies every year?" she asked, already dutifully rolling up her sleeves. "I usually count myself lucky if I find someone who made those peanut butter things with the Hershey's kiss in the middle."

"I like being 'other people,' then," Annie decided with a smile. "What kind is Grace's favorite?"

"Coco like chocolate or coco like coconut?" Annie had to ask, being a huge fan of both.

"That sounds like it should be illegal." Also seriously yes, getting added to Annie's Big List of Reasons to Visit Hawaii. "I can count on one hand the number of times I've had a cream puff and I really need to increase my quota, especially if there's potential for chocolate pudding."

"Okay, donuts are like, my weakness. Don't tell anyone." Annie was only half-kidding. "How can they possibly be better?"

Poor girl had also never had a beignet.

"When I was a kid, there was like, absolutely no junk food allowed in our house - my mom's kind of a tyrant about weight gain. But my dad would sneak me out and take me to Dunkin' just about every week," Annie shared, just slightly wistful. "So, like, I'm not gonna call myself a donut connoisseur or anything but - big fan of all things fried dough, at least."

"There's already a whole list of things I don't tell my mom about this place, but cream cheese dough might have to go to the top." Though Annie was pretty sure that was the greatest thing she'd ever heard of, and it showed.
