Williams Family Home - Newark, NJ, Friday Night
The funeral for Matty had, of course, been closed casket. And it had been full of cops (all former coworker's of Danny's) and firefighters (all former coworker's of his father) so it was easy to not have to address anything emotionally at the time.
Though Grace being there with him had caused more than a few cracks to come through as he just tried to get through this period.
Which was possibly why he was laying in one of bedrooms in the home that he and his siblings had grown up in, staring at the ceiling, trying to will himself to sleep. Even though he knew he'd have nightmares there.

Yeah.

He would have considered if it was weird use Steve's help there to stretch his hand around both of them so that his other hand could move up to cup Steve's cheek and neck.

Weirdly enough, that time he didn't notice the noise, though.

A part of him felt like this was still supposed to be mostly about Danny, anyway.

"There," Steve murmured, moving his hand in a way that he liked when he was, you know, doing this alone. Maybe Danny'd like it too?

The bed squeaked under him.

Not that Danny noticed for now, being all loose limbed and sated above him, trying to catch his breath again.

Danny turned his head to catch him with a kiss, unable to help himself in seeking out that affection.

Steve kissed him back, moving his hand from Danny's hair. "Better?"

"Stay here," Danny muttered once he pulled away from that kiss to lean over and snag one of their shirts from the floor. Cleaning up a messed up shirt would be easier than the mad dash for the bathrooms in the morning.
