Streets of Baltimore, Thursday
So, the trick to getting off the island, Danny was starting to feel, was to not try an escape. Because he went with the purpose of finding a shrink to talk to if he was going to be stuck here. And lo and behold, he was perfectly capable of getting to Baltimore.
Of course he was.
But his luck was still his luck. And it was probably amplified by the fact that Steve was around him once again. So, before he could even get inside the building, there was a body that landed right on a car parked off the street. Complete with car alarms going off and glass going everywhere.
Which was really gonna make hiring this therapist difficult, so he mentally crossed them off his list as he peered into the ruin of the car to check for a pulse and called the locals.
Danny Williams could not have nice things, no.

Ergo: Baltimore, for lunch, shopping, and eventual clubbing. That'd cheer him up just--
"Was that the sound of a body hitting a car?"
It was a very distinctive crash!Lucifer pushed past the already-amassing onlookers to get a better look, and found himself staring at the back of an ugly Jersey hairdo. "I knew I recognized that sound."

He was looking at the body now, not the haircut, so there was that. "Can't have been more than a few stories."
no subject
But yes, that assessment was right.
He looked past him as red and blue lights finally appeared and waved them over to secure the scene.
no subject
Shut up, it'd been too long since he'd gotten to do this!
no subject
"Don't puke," Danny said to the sick looking officer, not unkindly, as he flashed his badge. "Secure the scene." Then pointed right at Lucifer. "You, stop talking and go home."
Oh, like Lucifer would listen to that as Danny slipped past to go into the building in question. He was so sweet in thinking it would be the end of this.
no subject
Of course he wasn't leaving! He was heading right after Danny! "Detective Jersey Dan, wait up!"
no subject
He made a face, looking around the lobby for where the super's office should be. Maybe if he ignored Lucifer, he'd get bored and go away?
Spoilers: He would not. Because murder.

Maybe keys too. Because busting in doors was always a pain.
no subject
Because upstairs there was clearly a suspect!
He hit the number for the correct floor.
no subject
"Not you, Satanic Barney Fife," Danny replied, spreading his hands like 'what can you do?'

"I'm hurt by your lack of confidence," said Lucifer.
Using his powers to lure people into confessing their innermost motives was perfectly acceptable, right?

Danny sighed and rolled his eyes, moving out first to pin point which apartment would have matched up with what they saw on street level in order to go knock on the door. "Police, open up."
Nothing.

Look, he was pretty sure the guy couldn't get killed, but habits.
He turned to put his back to the door, pausing for a moment before kicking backwards hard enough to break through the flimsy lock. Ah. poor construction. A common trend in lower income housing.
no subject
Because there was a broken pot on the floor in front of the man inside, who had his hands full of money and pieces of ceramic.
no subject
Also, that pun was terrible.
no subject
The man's hands shot up in the air. He looked terrified. The money fell to the ground--
Which is when the woman hiding in the other room sprinted off into the hallway. "Oh look," Lucifer enthused, "I guess it's time to run, Detective!"
no subject
"Goddamn it. This is your fault somehow," he hissed, holstering his gun to give chase. "Watch him!"
no subject
The woman raced for the stairs, her brown hair bouncing.
no subject
Danny ran after her, taking a play out of Steve's book and hurling himself over the railing to get to her faster in a way that would make Steve super proud, but mostly just made Danny grimace in annoyance. Why did they always have to run? Why?
no subject
The woman looked over her shoulder, panicked. This wasn't fast enough! She hurled herself at the door onto the next floor-- "Why isn't it opening?!"
